The patients are curious about the questions below:
1- What is FUE and why is it primarily preferred?
The term FUE (follicle unit extraction) represents for only retrieval process of hair roots and describes this process.
However, the success of hair transplantation is mostly related to transplantation technique. Although the term
“Fue” is to describe the retrieval process of roots , it represents a hair transplant technique today. Just because the
postoperative period experienced is far more comfortable than FUT technique and because of the further advantages
that are to be held in the text, majority of patients prefer Fue technique. The reason that the Fue technique to be
offered as a trackless operation is the fact that wound smaller than 1 mm in our body heals without a trace .
2 – What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Stick and Plant technique?
The ‘’stick and plant” technique which is considered as the golden standard nowadays , ie opening channels with
a needle and the subsequent realization of planting is implemented by a few surgeons all over the world . Although
it takes a long time the surgeons to do it, a result of hair which are difficult to distinguish from the original hair in
terms of density and naturality shows that the technique is indispensable. It has to be kept in mind that the purpose
of hair transplantation as well as all aesthetical surgeries is to provide a happy lifetime by obtaining long-lasting
and natural results.
3 - What are taken into consideration while the number of Graft is determined?
The donor site between the two ears to obtain hair roots should be shortened to 1 mm in length. In this region, the
number of follicle units in an area of 1 cm ² is determined by a special computer program. The maximum number of
grafts that can be taken per cm ² is calculated. This number is up to 25% of the total follicular unit. For example, if
an area of 150 1cm ² s are ticked and if the number of follicle units is 70 in average, then the number of total follicle
units in our donor site is 150x 70:10500. 25% of this number is 2625 grafts Therefore if in this region in 2625 grafts
are taken, there would not occur any density loss.
4 – Will my hair roots be damaged and , will there be a steady trace?
Various diametered tools called, “micropunch” is moved to the appropriate depth and direction, therefore the rootswill not be damaged. The reason that the Fue technique to be offered as a trackless operation is the fact that
wound smaller than 1 mm in our body heals without a trace.
5 - Which factors affect the required number of grafts ?
Hair color, hair diameter, the difference of contrast between the skin and hair color, hair to be straight or
curly, the areas of hair loss.
6 - I will feel pain during the operation?
Fue method is a painless procedure because it is carried out under local anesthesia and when compared
to FUT method the method requires no surgical cuts, or tension on the skin which does not result in pain.
Since the process starts with taking hair first, the scalp in the area between the two ears should be made
anesthetic. By using block anesthesia , only necessary points are given the anesthetical substance and nerve
blockade of all of the donor site can be ensured . Thus, no pain occurs during the root taking period.
7 - What criteria is to be taken into consideration in terms of preparation and planning before the
operation?
Degree of baldness, the patient’s expectations, the hair in the donor site to be thin or thick in diameter and
age are of great importance in terms of determining the shedding pattern
8 - How soon can FUE technique be repeated for hair condense?
One should remember that FUE is a process which can be repeated after 6 months.
9 - How to make hair line planning?
A successful hair transplantation is most related to design of hair line. If there is a hair line comprised of
thin and lifeless hair at transplantation area, and if the transplantation will be held without changing that
hair line, the result would be quite natural. If a new hair line is to be designed, proportions of aesthetical facial
anatomy , the height of the at forehead region, arrangement of the recession and the dentation which are
existing at natural hair line , arrangement of the recession at the upper temporal region at nearest level to the
natural one is very important. . Using grafts containing quite dense, but single follicle is required at hair line.
10 - What will I face after the operation?
Soon after the operation, in transplantation region, where each graft was placed, there will be small
crusts and they will be poured within 1 week. After the operation when the crusts at planted area are poured,
a short elongation of alive hair roots without traces will be the result of natural process. However, the real
and permanent elongation will start 3 months later. In the beginning the elongation will be as thin hair, and
after 5 or 6 months, the hair diameter will thicken and the desirable view will be achieved . After the first
year the hair will complete maturation and elongate without any difference from your own hair and they will
never shed again.
