Breast is one of the significant organs that symbolizes femininity. Excessive size of the breast creates
not only psychological but also physical problems that causes waist and back pain.
Although breast reduction surgery includes in the group of cosmetic surgery of plastic surgery, the vast
majority of the patients complain about the waist and back pain which are caused by the big breasts.
Therefore, it would not be wrong to evaluate this operation as a reconstructive ( or repair ) surgery.
The ideal candidates for that operation?
Women who do not have breasts that grow depending on a hormonal disorder. Women who do not have any change
in the size of the breast for the last 6 months. Women who do not have breasts that has an active infection or any
infection that was detected in mammography .
Are we going to have any traces after the operation?
During this process, the excess of the skin is also removed in many patients. There can be a trace very much like a vertical
line and this line would be around the nipple or in lower breast curve. In addition to this vertical line, a scar can also remain in
inverted T-shaped. However, a patient who is able to gain a new and ideal breast in both aesthetic and functional aspect, does
not give importance to this trail; the reason is that the patient thinks that this trail will remain in the bra or bikini cares and will
not bee noticed. After obtaining the recovery of the excessive skin, we sometimes notice that the tissue will heal itself. In these
circumstances, we can make breast reduction with the aid of liposuction and we don’t take any cut or any trace.

Am I going to lose my lactation function?
With the techniques we use today, nipple sensation and lactation functions are preserved at the highest level
because we preserve the sensory nerve and the parts that provide milk. However, we can only use free-nipple technique
after we get the approval of our patients. The reason is that there is the risk of bloodstream for the middle aged
women who have big breasts. In this technique, the nipple is taken from the previous area and after that, excessive
breast tissue is removed. After that, breast reduction is done and lastly the nipple is adapted to the new area.
After the operation, at least 1-day of postoperative follow-up should be done. Bleeding and infection are extremely rare complications. Although scar healing problems can be rarely seen, partial loss in the nipple can be experienced after the reduction of very big breasts. These complications can only be achieved and healed by following certain drains.
